Jewish Community of Amherst

742 Main Street
Amherst, MA 01002
We are a welcoming, egalitarian, Reconstructionist community, committed to openness and respect—we have a “big tent,” which means that members are diverse in their Jewish spiritual beliefs and observances, as well as in their age, gender, class, political, and other ways of being. However, we are united in elusive but important qualities like caring about each other and caring about the world, working together for satisfying tikkun olam, cultural, spiritual, religious, educational, and social opportunities. Most of our services are Reconstructionist, but we also have regular masorti services and chanting/meditation services. Services and onegs are every Friday evening; services and Kiddush every Saturday; morning minyans every Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our beautiful social hall and courtyard (with kosher kitchen) is available for rent, as are our sanctuary and smaller rooms.

Demographics: all ages, wide range of religious and spiritual practices, e.g. Renewal, Conservative, Reconstructionist, chanting, meditation.
