Seeking spiritual guidance has always been part of the Jewish tradition. Contemporary Jewish spiritual direction is a means for exploring our relationship to God and Holiness and cultivating a greater awareness of God's presence in all aspects of our lives. This awareness enables us to create a personal, meaningful, and sustaining relationship with the Divine. Our unfolding relationship with God is the focus of spiritual direction.

The Shema is the core statement of Jewish faith. "Listen, Israel: The Eternal is our God, The Eternal is One!" The Shema declares that listening is the quintessential sacred act for Jews. Jewish spiritual direction is a discipline through which we develop the kind of listening asked of us by the Shema. The spiritual director attends to the experiences shared by the seeker through sacred listening. This mode of contemplative listening connects us with deep, inner sense of knowing and divine guidance.
