The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents "The Passover Exodus: Ten Plagues and the Parting of the Red Sea - A Contemporary Reconsideration" with historian, teacher and author, David Rutstein.

Rutstein will share historical significance and stories of Passover. During Passover, Jews around the world will recount the story of the Exodus as a reminder that they were once slaves in Egypt. With biblical and modern discoveries enhanced by the technology of today's digital age, we are able to discuss and question the full significance of this special holiday week. And, just maybe confirm that there was divine guidance to this most remarkable of tales.

This Pesach eve of 2019 also marks the 76th anniversary of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. On this date, the last of the incarcerated Jews rebelled being transported to their final destination, the death camp at Treblinka. Along with the Exodus, this too must be remembered.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program
