Kirtan Shabbat is a series of three, chant-infused Friday night cmmunity gatherings led by Andrew Hahn, The Kirtan Rabbi, and sponsored by Congregation B'nai Israel in Northampton. There is no need to know any Hebrew (or be Jewish) to dive into this exciting experience!

Candle-lighting and services are from 6-7:30pm, with doors opening at 5:45. Everyone is welcome to stay for wine/juice, challah, a light meal and hearty conversation.

𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧, continual call-and-response chant, is a prayer form developed in India from the Sanskrit tradition which has spread to the entire world. It is at once contemplative, ecstatic--and simply fun. 𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧, building on this technology, focuses on short, sacred phrases from the Bible, prayerbook and Jewish mysticism and treats them as powerful, universal meditations.

We cherish the diversity of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education, and political perspective. Please post or message for questions about accessibility.
