Civil Rights in 1966 and Now: A Personal View:
"In 1966, I landed in Jackson, Mississippi as an 18-year-old civil rights worker - straight from a suburban New York childhood in which almost the only black people I encountered were maids and gardeners. I'll talk about my experiences during that long-ago summer, including the historic confrontation I witnessed between a non-violent Martin Luther King and a militant Stokely Carmichael. I'll reflect at the end on how our thinking about race has changed since then, and I will encourage people in the audience to share their ideas and questions."

Presenter: Stephanie Levin, now a retired lawyer, a former college teacher and social justice activist.

Suggested Donation: $7.00. Reservations requested by December 14. Please call the CBI office at (413) 584-3593 x202, or e-mail [email protected]
