The Jewish Federation Connecting with Community presents a film screening on the life of Primo Levi.

The film is based on the haunting work of Italian chemist and author, Primo Levi, whose book "If This is a Man" was brought to stage in Spetember, 2004. It recalls the life of Levi who, in 1944, was imprisoned in Auschwitz. He spent 10 months in barbaric conditions.

The play was a one-man production by actor Antony Sher. This filmed version sees Sher acting out some harrowing material as he brings Levi's words to life, and proves that he is an actor capable of plummeting to the depths of human despair with alarming ease.

The film will be screened at 10:45, break for lunch at noon, and conclude after lunch for 1/2 hour.

This free program is part of the Federation’s Connecting With Community Series and will be followed by a kosher hot lunch. Lunch is a $2 suggested donation for adults over 60 years of age or $7 for all others. Advance reservations are required for lunch and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. on the day of the program.
