PROCESS:

Dorothy has been running The Jewish In Me Writing Workshop for the past five years in Northampton and New Hampshire. She trained with Pat Schneider, founder of the Amherst Writers and Artists writing process. No writing "experience " is necessary. We are all writers, and if you haven't written a memoir before, this is the place to get your feet wet.

During these 5 weeks, you can select up to 5 different moments in your life to explore through writing. We will play with different writing techniques to develop the memories beyond the headlines of what happened. Our words will help the reader hear, feel, see, and hold these memories. Our writing may lead each of us to understand a moment in time in new ways, and lead us in new directions as we excavate the past.

There will be one or two short warm-up exercises, followed by 20 minutes of writing. You may wish to bring in your own physical prompts -- a photo, an object, a line of poetry.
