On Friday, February 2nd, at 5:30 pm, BAJC will offer a Tu BiShvat seder and Shabbat dinner. The evening will include a short family-oriented seder, complete with red and white wine and grape juice to symbolize the seasons, many symbolic fruits, and the special Vermont touch – challah dipped in maple syrup. We will sing and read our short haggadah which emphasizes the Jewish values of tikkun olam (repair of the world) and ba’al tashchit (“do not destroy”) ,which forbids wasteful destruction of natural resources.

A full Shabbat meal, coordinated by the Hospitality committee, will include traditional foods for the holiday (think fruits and nuts). We also will offer some special educational entertainment during and following dinner, with an emphasis on taking real steps to work against climate change. Come and share, and keep your spirits up during these difficult times for our world and our nation. If not now, when?
