Rosh Hodesh is the celebration of the birth of the new moon that occurs each month. This celebration has been an occasion for women to gather, learn, and explore spirituality together. Rosh Hodesh is founded on this practice. The groups are a place for girls to be safe, smart, strong, to try things out, mess up, eat together, laugh together, collaborate, and bat ideas around. It is a place for girls to explore their deepest concerns and challenges, while discovering the tools to bring confidence and joy into their daily lives. Through hearfelt and light discussion, arts & craft, creative rituals, and games, the girls and their leader draw on Jewish values and spirituality to explore the issues they care about most.

The program is designed for small groups of girls to meet monthly and build a long-term mentoring relationship with their leader that will last as the participants grow from girls to young women. No previous knowledge required.

Leader: TALIA BERKOWITZ is a student at Mt Holyoke College studying Psychology and Education. Talia has focused her attention on adolescent girls, working at schools in Holyoke and Boston to promote social, emotional and mental health. Talia is committed to fostering the strength, beauty, imagination and growth in girls. Moved by her own experience in a Rosh Hodesh group growing up, Talia is thrilled to bring the nurturing support to a new group of girls as they explore who they are and who they want to be. Just as her female mentors have advised, challenged, and cheered her on, she looks forward to building lasting relationships that will continue to strengthen girls as they go forward in the world.
